DIY Keyboard Ref Magnet

Keyboard Ref Magnet
A Youtube video gave me this idea to turn my defective keyboard into these amazing ref magnets.  It just so happened that I got all the materials locked in my craft drawer.  Read below to learn how I did this...

 MATERIALS:
*Old keyboard
*Pliers
*Flat screwdriver
*Craft magnet
*Glue gun
*Hot melt glue stick
*Sandpaper

Old keyboard

Craft magnet

Hot melt glue

Glue gun

Pliers

Sandpaper

PROCEDURE:
1.  Clean the keys.  Sorry for the nasty dirty old keyboard.  That undersurface could not be cleaned without vacuuming it.  Then, pop the keys out using a flat head screwdriver.  This is the easiest and fun part.

 2.  Turn the keys on the underside and see that protrusion?  We are going to break that off using the pliers.  Now this would be the laborious part.  In the case of my keys, it only broke halfway so I used the sandpaper to level the middle part with the outer edges.

Snip off that middle part
Protrusion snipped off and sandpapered.
3.  Add hot melt glue on the underside and while still wet, add the magnets.  Repeat to all the keys.  That is it!

You can now write messages on your ref using these nerdy magnets.
